Ram Mandir Darshan: Walk the Rampath to the Garbgriha of the Ayodhya Temple With News18
The News18 team in Ayodhya took the 32 stairs from the main entrance to the mandir through the Singh Dwar. Passing though the five mandaps in the mandir — Nritya Mandap, Rang Mandap, Sabha Mandap, Prathana Mandap and Kirtan Mandap — is a divine journey towards the Garbgriha where Lord Ram is present

It was a hue of saints and celebrities inside the Ram Temple and a divine darshan of Lord Ram Lalla by evening for the News18 team in Ayodhya, as the beautiful sight of the new Lord Ram idol and the original Ram Lalla Virajman together was before us in the grand temple.

Getting inside the temple from a VIP gate on Rampath, it is a short walk to the main temple after a brief security check and we were allowed to take in our cameras. Once at the temple complex, the temple on the eastern side is a sight to behold.

The magnificent Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir presents itself in all its glory in the traditional Nagara style with its expanse of 380 feet length, width of 250 feet and height of 161 feet. What especially attracts our attention are the pillars, 392 in number, and the golden doors at the temple that present a rich history of Sanatan Dharma and Hinduism. The golden doors are among the 44 total doors of the temple.

The pillars and walls of the temple showcase intricately sculpted depictions of Hindu deities, gods, and goddesses — we could only marvel at the intricate detailed sculptures of Lord Ganesh, Goddess Lakshmi among others on the pillars. The ceilings are grand and present a great and grand sight, making one marvel at the detailing that has gone into the construction of the temple.

We took the 32 stairs from the main entrance to the mandir through the Singh Dwar. Passing though the five mandaps in the mandir — Nritya Mandap, Rang Mandap, Sabha Mandap, Prathana Mandap and Kirtan Mandap — is a divine journey towards the Garbgriha where Lord Ram is present. Each mandap has a distinctive style and present a picture of one walking into a divine place. Near the mandir, from the side, one can see the historic well (Sita Koop), dating back to the ancient era.

We slowly reach the main sanctum sanctorum at ground floor, where the childhood form of Bhagwan Shri Ram (the idol of Shri Ram Lalla) has been placed. The Ram Lalla Virajman is placed right in front of the new idol. This is the divine sight that virtually gets the devotees afixed at the spot with security men struggling to get the devotees to move away from the front of the deity.

News18 could see people in tears, some prostrating on the ground to pay their obeisance to the Lord. Some people who got inside, including security men and some VIPs, said this was like stepping into heaven and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has fulfilled the wish of millions to build a grand Ram Temple. Some said they had seen the Lord under a tent multiple times and they were struggling to control their emotions once seeing the Lord in the grand temple.

“Our Ram Lalla will no longer live in a tent, but in a divine temple — this is what PM Modi said. Once inside, we understand the importance of his works,” some locals who managed to get inside the temple on Monday told News18.

People want to spend a lot of time inside the Ram Temple, just to soak in the devotional vibe of the place and gaze at the temple for a lot of time. The exit from the Garbgriha leads one back to the Singh Dwar which a great sight as well as it serves as a grand entrance to the temple.

One can see many doing multiple darshans of the Lord by going back into the temple complex after sitting into the premises for a while. The features of the temple can be seen from the complex.

The foundation of the mandir has been constructed with a 14-meter thick layer of roller-compacted concrete (RCC), giving it the appearance of artificial rock.  No iron is used anywhere in the mandir. For protection against ground moisture, a 21-foot-high plinth has been constructed using granite.

In the southwestern part of the mandir complex, at Kuber Tila, the ancient mandir of Bhagwan Shiv has been restored, along with the installation of a statue of Jatayu. One can catch a brief glimpse of the same from the temple complex.
