THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Attempts of the CPM leadership to undermine the rule of law in the state is a dangerous trend, KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala has said. The State Government should take serious note of the consistent attempts to derail the T P Chandrasekharan murder case probe through threats. The moves to torpedo the probe should be viewed as  promoting criminalisation of  politics, he said. Ramesh told a news conference here that none including the CPM had any complaints about the probe team, especially ADGP Vincent M Paul, who is heading it. The only opposition raised was against the presence of Rural SP Rajmohan. “The CPM campaign against him is totally false and he has an impeccable service track record,” said Ramesh, quoting from a fact-finding TNIE report published recently. “The probe is moving on the right track,’’ he added. Deploring the stance of the CPM leadership that the party will become a flaming torch if the probe zeroed in on to the leaders, Ramesh said that such threats will not work. He flayed the stance of CPM general secretary Prakash Karat on the issue. “Karat dons the role of a leader in Delhi as one who is firmly opposed to criminalisation of politics. In Kannur he had justified the actions of the CPM, ” he alleged.
