VISAKHAPATNAM: A realtor and his son were shot dead by two unidentified miscreants at Aganampudi in Gajuwaka mandal on Tuesday. Police suspect it could either be the handiwork of a robbers’ gang from Bihar or the result of a land dispute.According to initial reports, two youngsters, who arrived on a motorbike, knocked on the doors of realtor D Saibabu (43), a native of Ravulapalem in East Godavari district, around 8 p.m. When he opened the doors, the duo demanded cash and gold. They shot dead Saibabu after he refused to oblige them. His son Dinesh (23) and nephew M Naresh Babu, who came to his rescue, were also shot at.Dinesh died midway to the hospital in Aganampudi. The condition of Naresh is said to be critical. The killers, who reportedly conversed in Hindi, snatched jewellery from Saibabu’s wife and fled immediately. They left behind two country- made pistols. Saibabu had been actively engaged in real estate business in Aganampudi for the past few years. A dispute related to a plot in Dibbapalem might have led to the murders, unconfirmed reports said.Police seized the two firearms and deployed dog squads and a clues team to gather evidence from the scene of crime. They also heightened vigil at the railway station in Duvvada and a few other places to nab the culprits. The police suspect that the killers may have decamped with jewellery only to give the impression of a robbery and to hide their real motive for the murders.
