New Delhi: Those who have seen 'Haasil', would have a fair idea about what to expect from the director Tigmanshu Dhulia’s latest film 'Sahib Biwi aur Gangster'.
Like Dhulia’s earlier films 'Haasil', 'Charas' and 'Shagird', this too has underworld in the backdrop, with Jimmy Sheirgill, Mahie Gill and Randeep Hooda in the pivotal characters.
The basic storyline of the film is quite interesting which showcases a Nawab and his beautiful spouse who live in their royal ancestral house but are incapable of meeting their expanses.
The Nawab belongs to the old school which provokes him to maintain the grand lifestyle at any cost. He also keeps a mistress despite his wife’s serious objections.
Growing difficulties on financial front leads the Nawab to take a revolutionary decision of organizing contract killings. Meanwhile, he also campaigns for his allies in politics.
Unfortunately, the Nawab does not meet success at the political front.
His rival group led by Gainda Singh plots a highly ambitious man Babloo as driver to Nawab’s wife. The plotted driver spends more time with the wife as the Nawab remains outside most of the time. This proximity soon changes into a passionate relationship between the two.
Somehow, Babloo ends up in confessing his real identity in front of the Nawab and then the cat-mouse game begins. Everybody wants to use the other for their profits.
The wife wants her new found lover to kill Nawab’s mistress after knowing his real identity as a gangster. The love struck driver kills the mistress on wife’s insistence, who wants her husband’s attention back.
However, the driver gets more ambitious and wants the begum for him in return of the killing. He also wants all the powers of the Nawab which he possesses after the killing of several of his enemies.
Based in northern India, ‘Sahib Biwi aur Gangster’ is a tale of love and betrayal where the motive behind the passionate crimes will be the thing to watch out for.
Dhulia had demonstrated his command via dialogues on the UP politics and underworld in ‘Haasil’. Creator of larger than life dialogues Dhulia is expected to give anther gritty movie in the shape of ‘Sahib Biwi aur Gangster’.
The film is in news for Mahie Gill’s bold role too. Last seen in ‘Not A Love Story’, Gill has emerged as a heroine who is daring enough to experiment with roles, even early in her career.
Jimmy Sheirgill has already worked with Tigmanshu Dhulia, and thus the director-actor duo is expected to create the same magic of ‘Haasil’ again.
Randeep Hooda’s career is heading nowhere and thus a lot will depend on ‘Sahib Biwi aur Gangster’ which might prove to be a life saving film for Hooda.
