New Delhi: Remember Sana Saeed? The cute, little, bubbly Anjali of 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' is returning to the silver screen with Karan Johar's next directorial venture 'Student of the Year'. She is expected to be doing the second lead in the film.

The initial promos of the film have been released, but it's difficult to spot Sana in them. This could be a strategy also as Karan Johar is one director who believes in surprising the audiences.

He had used the same trick in 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' where Rani Mukherji's character was not revealed much till the release of the film. Later, Rani's character went on to become one of the most popular characters of that year.

Though Rani Mukherji had done films such as 'Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat' and 'Ghulam' before Karan Johar's film, but she was not perceived as the next big thing in these films. The song 'Aati kya khandala' of 'Ghulam' was definitely a hit but the film was heavily dependent on Aamir Khan, and Rani didn't get much chance to showcase her latent potential.

However, the role of Tina Malhotra in 'KKHH' changed the scenario for her and she got recognition as a typical Indian feminine actress.

Now, Sana Saeed, who is doing the role of Tanya in 'SOTY' will also be hoping to achieve the same feat as she is playing the second lead in 'SOTY'.

Earlier, in an interview given to PTI, Sana talked about her role in 'SOTY', "I have a full-fledged role in the film. It is not a cameo. I play a high school hottie - Tanya. It is a second lead role."

'Student of the Year' also marks the debut of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt's daughter Alia Bhatt, David Dhawan's younger son Varun Dhawan and newcomer Siddharth Malhotra.

"It was fabulous working with Karan after a gap of 14 years. When I shot for 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' I was scared and even now while doing this film I was scared and nervous. But I must say he (Karan) made all of us comfortable," Sana said.

"When I went on sets...the team that was there during 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' was almost same for this film as well. I felt really good when they recognised me. For this movie we had a young team and we had great fun," Sana said.

Post 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', she was also seen in films like 'Badal' and 'Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega' as a child artist.

While studying in college, Sana also did TV shows like 'Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na' and 'Lo Ho Gayi Pooja Iss Ghar Ki'. "I did it (TV) when I was in college. I took it up because there were offers coming my way from TV," Sana said.

With big Bollywood dreams in mind, she even thought of taking up acting course from New York. But destiny again made her join Karan's bandwagon with 'Student of the Year'.

"I was just thinking of doing an acting course from New York. But that is when I came across this film, I auditioned for it and got selected. This was something I had never expected. I am extremely happy that I am part of this film," the actress said. (With inputs from PTI)
