Rohtak: Advocating a joint struggle against setting up of SEZs, the CPI-M on Thursday said it would hold talks with all concerned to evolve a strategy on the matter.
Those opposed to Special Economic Zones to be set up in Haryana's Gurgaon and Jhajjar districts by an Industrial House should come together to launch a joint struggle, it said.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of party's two-day state committee meeting, CPI-M leaders Nilotpal Basu and Inderjit Singh flayed the Hooda government for signing an MoU with Reliance Industries for setting up of SEZs in the state.
They said the SEZs were being set up without proper rehabilitation of farmers who would be displaced owing to acquisition of their lands for the purpose.
Basu, former Rajya Sabha MP, and Singh, Haryana CPI-M Secretary, alleged there was complete lack of transparency in the deal.
They said there were diverse views within the ruling party over the issue.
The CPI-M would hold discussions with farmers, agriculture scientists and others to evolve a strategy on the matter, Singh said.
"The CPI-M calls on all those opposed to SEZs to come out with alternative policies on the issue," he said.
Basu, party's central secretariat member, said the policy should take care of displaced farmers and issues concerning them.
He said the CPI-M in consultations with other Left parties would prepare a note on the issue, which would be sent to the UPA Government at the Centre.
On the Third Front, the two leaders said their party was in favour of a third alternative based on ideology and not on mere conglomeration of political parties.
