Shop gutted in fire near Kerala temple

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A handicraft stall near the famous Padmanabhaswamy temple, which is in the news after a huge treasure trove was found from its cellars, was partially gutted in a fire tonight.No casualties were reported in the fire, police said.Fire tenders rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze, preventing it from spreading to other shops.Police said the fire broke out in a shed which had remained closed for the last few months, about 200 metres from the temple.The invaluable articles found during an inventory included rare jewels, stone-studded crowns, heaps of gold and silver coins, idols and gold, silver and brass platters and lamps, whose value is estimated at nearly Rs one lakh crore.
