Be it to dodge those rainwater poodles or avoid spoiling your clothes with mud stains, keeping it short is the best thing to do during the rainy season. The demand for shorts, hot pants, capris and three-fourth pants, which picks up with the onset of summers, therefore touches a new high during monsoons.

Even as almost all malls and garment showrooms dealing in western wear across the city are offering the end of summer season sale, shorts and capris are being picked up in large numbers, that too in bright and colourful shades. And, the sales are only expected to soar when the monsoon collections hit these stores.

Says Ananya Patnaik, pursuing B.Com at Rama Devi Women’s College, ‘’I go for capris and shorts in monsoons as they are easy to carry and easy to dry off and they don’t get dirty in mud and water splashes outside. Besides, they are comfortable to be in. Now is the time to go for darker shades of capris or shorts as it won’t really matter if they get dirty. Pairing it with nice b old colours of t-shirts is quite nice along  colourful flip-flops for the feet.’’
