In the 2014 Gareth Edwards adaptation, the Godzilla looks fuller with a visibly thicker neck and a wider torso.

Did you know that Godzilla's original Japanese name is Gojira? The beast, originally from Japan, is said to have been intended as a cross between a gorilla and a whale.

While Godzilla may appear larger in the latest installment of the series, it is only one of the many changes in appearance that it has seen throughout its 60-year run. In the film directed by Gareth Edwards, the beast looks fuller, larger and with a visibly thicker neck and a wider torso.

The monster first appeared in a Japanese movie by Ishiro Honda, in 1954. Over the years, there have been scores of adaptations in Japan, as well as in Hollywood.

The latest movie in the series is set to hit the theatres on May 16. 'Godzilla', co-produced by Legendary Pictures and Warner Brothers, stars Bryan Cransto, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe and Elizabeth Olsen in the leading roles.
