Special race for Mayors post

CHENNAI: With a view to providing an alternative option to Chennaiites to elect a commoner for the Mayor post, M R Soundarajan, a city-based youth, on Saturday announced his intention to run for the prestigious post in the forthcoming local body polls.Announcing his candidature in a press meet, Soundararajan said, “I have planned to contest the election as a commoner as I am a commoner with a vision to work for the commoners in the city.”“If I get elected for the coveted post, I would transform the Chennai city as a number one city in the country;” he claimed.  Hailing from Tirunelveli, Soundararajan had received a special medal at the cycling championships held by the International Paralympic Committee in Germany in 2002.
