New Delhi: The Hindi film industry has always given more importance to commercial success than critical acclaim. Recent trends suggest that the success at the box office depends more on a good promotional drive than word of mouth publicity.
Like a wise producer, the makers of 'Don 2' also don't want to leave any stone unturned in promoting their film. Huge success of films such as 'Bodyguard' and 'RA.One' were more or less the result of big budget promotional drives than good content.
The publicity of 'RA.One' had kept Shah Rukh Khan away from the promotions of 'Don 2' but Excel Entertainment had started promoting the film before the release of 'RA.One'.
The makers had also come up with an unique idea of promoting 'Don 2' by releasing Don quotes on each Friday.
Finally the wait is over for the makers as well as the audiences. Shah Rukh Khan has joined the team of 'Don 2' on a nation wide promotional tour.
Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is travelling the country and beyond to promote his upcoming film 'Don 2: The King Is Back' and he feels the same as being part of an election campaign.
The 46-year-old actor, who rigorously promotes all his films, is currently in Ahmedabad with the 'Don 2' team.
"Off to Ahmedabad, kem cho?? And then Jaipur, Ghani khamma!! Our promotions feel a little like yatras during election times... ha ha," Shah Rukh posted on Twitter.
The actor, who will reprise the role of the most notorious criminal in the world, began the promotion of the film in Dubai.
Next the team planned to begin their multi-city promotion tour in India from Patna. However, they had to fly straight to Nagpur and skip Patna due to security issues.
'Don 2: The King Is Back' stars Boman Irani, Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta in key roles. The film will hit theatres on December 23. (With additional inputs from PTI)
