BHUBANESWAR: State’s plan size for 2012-13 is likely to touch all-time high of Rs 17,000 cr. The size of the 12th Plan (2012-17) has also been pegged at ` 1 lakh crore. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved the plan size on Tuesday. The annual plan size in 2011-12 was Rs 15,200 cr. Sources said it has been hiked keeping in view the higher requirement of different departments and to achieve the target of 9 per cent growth. The growth rate of the State has been more than the national average in last couple of years. The State Government has also taken several steps to boost revenue generation further and maintain a robust growth rate. The annual plan for 2012-13 and the five-year plan size were discussed by the Planning Commission with the Government officials last month. The commission, sources said, has agreed to the higher plan size. Of the Rs 17,000 cr, Rs 2,000 cr will be for the State public sector undertakings (PSUs). The Government sector plan will be of Rs 15,000 cr. As the number of Centrally-sponsored schemes has increased, the State Government has to make enhanced provisions for matching shares for them. It has also announced several new schemes to be implemented from its own resources that would need huge funds. Some of the schemes include Mamata, Biju Setu Yojana, Biju KBK, Biju Kandhamal and Gajapati, Biju Saharanchal Bidyutikaran Yojana and construction of cement concrete roads (CCRs).
