In a bid to make its foothold stronger in the sedan class, Mahindra launched its newly-designed Varito in the state on Friday. Interestingly, Mahindra rolled out the new Verito for the Kerala market the very next day after its national launch in New Delhi on Thursday.
Models
Mahindra has brought 22 new changes in the design as well as comfort zone while retaining Renault engine from its flagship model Renault Logan. The car comes in five new models with two petrol variants and three diesel variants.
Price
The expected price in Kerala starts from Rs 5.23 lakh and diesel variant starts from Rs 6.07 lakhs.
The new model is expected to lead the class with upscale ergonomics, restyled exterior and interior appearance equipped with better safety features compared to its rivals in the segment.
Mahindra has also brought several variations in the external designs with lowing lines, masculine body lines with staunch cuts. The front grill has been changed and new chrome plating has been introduced giving a sporty look. The design is further backed by new front and rear bumpers, new alloys wheels, stylish roof rails, black-coloured pillars, new side cladding and chrome rear applique.
The interior changes were brought to the new model after considering the drawbacks of its earlier version. The new model has been mounted with convenient power window switches taking a cue from the criticism the company received for its previous version. It also has a new grab handle, two tone instrument panel, electric ORVM controls and elegant upholstery and an attractive driver information system. The car contains spacious boot in the segment with 510 litres of space. Mahindra also has corrected the wiper movement and placement of bonnet opening liver, taking advice from experts. The car is expected to give a mileage of 21.03 kmpl in diesel variants, while the petrol variant promises to give a mileage of 15 kmpl.
Speaking to ‘City Express’, senior Vice-president Sales and Customer Care Arun Malhotra stated that Kerala was one of the most promising markets for Mahindra and Mahindra company with 16 percentage of its sales being from the state last year. “There was 41 percentage growth in the sales of Varito in Kerala. Our overall sales in Kerala has seen the highest increase, compared to other states with 27 percentage last year. This year we have more promising plans with five new models to be launched this fiscal year. Besides new outlets and service centers will be launched soon,” Arun Malhotra said.
