Tehsildar held for taking bribe

BHUBANESWAR: Khurda tehsildar Dhirendra Nath Kar was arrested by the Vigilance on Wednesday on charges of taking bribe to give permission for sand lifting to a contractor. Kar had apparently demanded Rs. 15,000 from Yudhistir Udaysingh, a resident of Baligadia village of Khurda. After the matter was reported to Vigilance, a trap was laid by the Bhubaneswar division. Kar, a senior OAS officer, had agreed to receive the bribe on a road near Pokhariput area  here. He pocketed the cash and put it in the bike dicki when the Vigilance sleuths apprehended him. He was taken to custody.
