Amidst mounting pressure from Telangana outfits, ministers from the region have decided to request chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to give permission for TJAC’s proposed Telangana March on Sunday.
The ministers have sought an appointment with the chief minister on Friday morning to persuade Kiran Reddy to give permission for the march.
Though the chief minister has urged them to convince the TJAC to put off the march, the ministers are understood to have resolved to plead with him to give permission for the march at least with some riders like changing the venue or confining the demonstration to a particular place.
Eight ministers _ K Jana Reddy, P Sabita Indra Reddy, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, J Geetha Reddy, V Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, DK Aruna, Baswaraj Saraiah and P Sudarshan Reddy _ met at the residence of Sudarshan Reddy here on Thursday.
They expressed concern over the latest statements made by AICC emissary Vayalar Ravi and party state affairs in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad that the Congress high command needed unanimity of opinion from the three regions for dividing the state.
The ministers felt that the statements made the Telangana activists furious and at this juncture if the government did not give permission for the march, the ministers from Telagnana would have to face the ire of Telangana people.
“Even the TDP extended its support for the march. At this juncture we can’t ask the TJAC to postpone the march. Hence we decided to request the chief minister to allow the march,” said a senior minister who participated in the meeting.
Jana Reddy told reporters later that the ministers would prevail upon the chief minister to give his nod for the march.
When members of the Telangana Journalists’ Forum asked him to pressure the chief minister, he assured them to do so. Jana Reddy exuded confidence that the Centre would take a positive decision on the separate state issue in six months.
