KOCHI: An exquisite display of antique items at the SH College is catching the attention of art land history lovers alike. The eyes glance through antique pieces that are over 5000 years old. The 3000-year-old nannangadis (urns) and stone figures which the Archaeological Survey of India have marked out as antiques are the main attractions here. Chinese jars, plates, candle stands, bronze pieces are the other highlights. Weapons used during war times such as daggers, sword and spear are also kept. Furniture from the Victorian era, and statues imported from Portuguese are also some of the rare exhibits here.A 150-year-old cot, ancient coins, stamps, wooden sculptures are on display as well. There are farming equipment and grain boxes. Then there are the portraits of famous personalities, scientists, freedom fighters and ancient rulers.Musical instruments of tribal people, ancient jewelry, gramophone, radio, various models of lamps used in churches, instruments used in ships like compass and radar finder, holy books of different religions written in Hebrew and French languages are all part of what make this exhibition a splendid treasure trove.Ancient cameras, typewriters, slide projector and tape recorder can also be seen. The exhibition, that ends on Nov 25, has been organised by SLR brothers.
