Thiruvananthapuram: Taking to the social media, Thiruvananthapuram district collector, K Vasuki hit back at critics after being trolled for the delay in holiday announcements for educational institutions due to heavy rains.
She took a dig at the social media trolls and suggested that they should instead use their creativity to fight climate change.
On July 31, heavy rains lashed Thiruvananthapuram, bringing public life to a standstill.
On her Facebook page, Vasuki wrote, “Dear Friends (Trollers; Trollens and Trollethies), Who bring smile on my lips and sparks in my thoughts... Along with "K"s of other, I also enjoyed trolls that you all made based on the heavy rain and resulting holidays (sic).”
She continued, “I hope you are familiar with the Climate Change and its impact. The ones like Ockhi. It brought back a ton of plastic and other wastes back to the land in a single night. Extremes in rainfall distribution and their unpredictability are going to keep on increasing in the coming future because of climate change.”
The collector went on to say, “If your boundless energy and fresh talents are channeled to reverse the climate change trends, you will not only save yourselves from future misery but also save the entire world from it.”
“I invite all of you to offer your skills, energy, dedication and wonderful creativity voluntarily to the C power 5 - Change Can Change Climate Change initiative, which aims to create a sustainable lifestyle to the climate change challenges. Better late than never. Let us join our hands to eradicate the erosion of a healthy life from our planet so as to celebrate the same for the generations to come,” the post read.
