The environment that offers us food, water, shelter and clothing needs protection. The destruction of green cover for selfish purposes or forest fires, polluted drinkable water, air pollution and others, all of this has a direct impact on climate change which is quite evident. There have been significant changes in our climates which is affecting everyone. Hence, the responsibility of protecting the environment and the ecosystem falls on all of us. Adopting sustainable practices, promoting environmental awareness and conserving natural resources are a few ways. Realising the same, Inturi Bhushan has taken the initiative to boost awareness regarding this.
Inturi Bhushan is a retired teacher from Visakhapatnam who has been busy raising awareness that the responsibility to protect the environment falls with everyone and not just one person or people in power. During his career as a teacher, he has planted thousands of trees in Visakhapatnam. He has encouraged many students to plant a tree on their birthdays. He believes that each child can do something to contribute to the environment. He has been urging everyone to grow greens to prevent future generations from suffering from a lack of green cover and pollution.
The retired teacher began teaching in 1996 and has been an environment conservation enthusiast since his childhood. He retired from his job on March 31, 2024. He kickstarted the tree-planting initiative with just one motto, a pollution-free city for future generations. After he was appointed as a teacher in the school, he initiated a tree-planting program and introduced the practice of students planting a tree on their birthdays.
Apart from plantation drives in schools, he has also headlined tree-planting activities in public spaces, and vacant lands and collaborated with various voluntary organisations. Over the years, he has planted thousands of trees and earned awards for his dedication as an environmentalist.
Even after his retirement, he has been actively involved in spreading information and awareness about plantations by visiting various schools with a poster. Everywhere he goes, he wears a coat with a message that urges people to protect the environment.
He has also planted trees in the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park in Visakhapatnam. He believes that the greenery will help visitors relax and rest under the shade in the zoo. He firmly feels if the city has to be green, everyone must plant trees.
