Three children, including two siblings, drowned in a water body in Idayanthangal village in Kaveripakkam on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Narmatha (12), daughter of Venkatesan and resident of Idyanthangal, Karthicka (11), daughter of Raman of the same village, and her brother Madhan
Kumar (8).
The incident occurred at about 3 pm when Narmatha‘s mother Maragatham asked her to look for their cattle near the water tank in the village.
Karthicka and Madhan accompanied Narmatha to look for the cattle and did not return home till about 5 pm. The parents of the three children searched for them and found them drowned in the water tank.
They fished out the bodies of the children and informed the police. A case of unnatural death has been registered in Kaveripakkam Police Station and investigation is on.
