KATTAPPANA: Ruler of the Mannan tribe Ariyan Rajamannan died here on Wednesday. He was 30. He was suffering from stomach-related ailment. Ariyan, the lone adivasi raja in the state, was the 16th and the youngest king of his community. He was admitted to a private hospital at Kattappana after he complained of stomach pain. The funeral will be held at Kozhimala in Kanchiyar panchayat in Idukki. According to sources, the new ruler will be selected before the funeral. Recently, there was an attempt to remove Ariyan from the ‘seat’. Ariyan succeded Thevan Rajamannan following his death in 2007. Led by Thevan Rajamannan’s nephew Rajappan, a meeting of nine kanis was convened last month. But only one kani turned up. Following this, Ariyan declared that he had the support of the community.
