HYDERABAD: With the realisation slowly dawning on its leadership that the Congress-led UPA government may not resolve the Telangana imbroglio until the election year of 2014, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti has decided to adopt a new strategy to keep the statehood issue alive for the next three years.Party chief K Chandrasekhara Rao is believed to have advised his party leaders to believe in the dictum, “slow and steady wins the race”, and follow it.According to sources, the party has prepared a seven-point plan of action to emerge as a big political force in the Telangana region.  The party believes that political unity will be the key to achieving statehood.   As part of its plan,  the party wants to strengthen the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee from the village level to the state capital and in all the Assembly constituencies. It wants to encourage suspended and rebel MLAs of the Congress and Telugu Desam to resign and contest by-elections. The pink party does not want to allow TDP chief N Chandarababu Naidu to tour the Telangana region and has directed its cadre to corner Naidu on the issue of corruption as well. The TRS leaders should try to wean away the cadres of other political parties into its fold in all the Assembly constituencies. The party also decided to strengthen all employees’ organisations in the region.Apart from all these efforts, the TRS has decided to concentrate on major public issues which will help the Telangana movement. A TRS leader said that all these efforts would help keep the Telangana issue alive. “What is important is the direction in which we are moving.  If the people continue to repose trust in the the party,  keeping the heat alive will not be a problem,’’ he said.
