With the onset of winter, pollution levels have started worsening across the country, increasing the risk of respiratory and lung-related diseases. To avert this, people have started using air purifiers in their homes.
IIT Kanpur has developed a special filter that has the ability to convert an air conditioner into an air purifier, irrespective of the weather conditions.
This special filter that can be installed in air conditioners has been developed by IIT Kanpur’s incubator company, “Earth”. During summer, it can purify the air in addition to cooling one’s room. During winter, if the air conditioner is switched on in the ‘fan’ mode, it can function as an effective air purifier.
This special filter not only prevents pollution but also eliminates harmful elements as well as potential viruses present in the air. Specially designed with Japanese technology, the filter boasts several types of membranes and coatings, capable of preventing pollution and curbing infection from viruses.
The air filter will not only help in purifying air in homes and offices but will also positively impact people’s health, especially for those suffering from respiratory problems.
IIT Bombay alumnus and director of “Earth”, Ravi Kaushik, said that he got the idea of manufacturing this filter in view of the increasing problem of pollution across the country. He shared that he has developed this product in collaboration with experts from IIT Kanpur. Available for just Rs 3,500, the filter can be ordered online.
