The Task Force police on Wednesday arrested two persons in connection with cricket betting. They also seized Rs 1.90 lakh and three mobile phones from them.
According to police, upon receiving a tip-off, they apprehended two cricket betting organisers, Bharath Kumar (32) and Sanjay (32), while they were accepting money from punters for the T20 match between India and Sri Lanka, played at the Pallekele international cricket stadium in Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
Bharath Kumar, a resident of Chaitanyapuri, allegedly hatched a plan to earn easy money by organising cricket betting.
Apart from direct betting, he was organising betting over cell phones. Sanjay, a resident of Saroornagar, worked as his accomplice on a commission basis.
They booked a room in the Tirupati Balaji lodge at Troop Bazar on Tuesday and organised received bets for the T20 match.
The accused were handed over to Sultan Bazar police for further action.
