Chennai: US Ambassador to India Kathleen Stephens on Tuesday called on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam at the Secretariat in Chennai.
Stephens met the Chief Minister along with US Consul General in Chennai Phillip A Min, an official release said.
The historic and deep ties between the two nations were mentioned while it was noted that the US mission in Chennai issues the largest number of employment related visas around the globe, the release said.
Panneerselvam highlighted the role that availability of skilled labour played and specifically that Tamil Nadu had one of the highest number of technical and professional institutions including engineering colleges, polytechnics, ITIs and medical colleges in the country.
"Tamil Nadu is open for business and looked forward to a substantial participation by American companies in the Global Investors Meet proposed to be held during 2015."
Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary, Finance and Principal Secretary, Planning and Development were also present during the meeting, it added.
