Those killed are believed to be al-Qaeda and Taliban militia.

New Delhi: A suspected American missile has struck a village in South Waziristan, killing upto 13 people and injuring scores of others.

Those killed are believed to be al-Qaeda and Taliban militia, many of them Arabs.

Local witnesses claim seeing a pilotless plane, sparking off reports that the missile was fired by a US drone.

The Pakistani government has not confirmed the strike.

Armed militants cordoned off the site after the missile strike, residents said. They said four unidentified "guests" had arrived late Wednesday at the destroyed house, although their identities were not known.

Osama bin Laden's operational number three, Abu Laith al-Libi, was killed in a similar missile strike in North Waziristan last month.

Al-Libi was also head of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group apart from being an al-Qaeda leader.
