KOCHI: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) on Wednesday raided five Road Transport Offices in the district. The raids were conducted as part of a state-wide drive against irregularities in issuing driving licences. The raid, code named ABC (Accelerator, Brake and Clutch), was conducted at RT Offices in Kakkanad, Aluva, Muvattupuzha, Mattanchery and Perumbavoor. According to Vigilance Superintendent T Vikram, the raid was conducted after the VACB placed secret cameras at driving test locations. “From the recording we found that there were several irregularities taking place in issuance of driving licence. In Muvattupuzha, 630 driving licences were kept pending without any reason. Similarly, 237 licences were kept pending in Perumbavoor. We also found that agents were influencing the authorities in getting the licence easily. We also seized licences from some agents,” Vikram said. Cases will be charged after analysing the recorded videos, VACB officials said.
