HYDERABAD: V Vijay Sai Reddy was not a conspirator in the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s alleged illegal assets case and was eligible for bail since a chargesheet had already been filed in the case, his counsel Susheel Kumar told the special CBI court here on Wednesday.Fresh arguments on Reddy’s bail petition took place at the newly-constituted second additional CBI court at Gagan Vihar. The magistrate posted hearing on further arguments to April 26. Citing Telgi’s stamp scam and the 2G telecom scam, he said the Supreme Court had granted bail to the accused except public servants. “Vijay Sai Reddy is an ordinary chartered accountant and is not a public servant. Moreover, he is not a conspirator. Some persons levelled charges only against former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and his son Jagan Mohan Reddy. Yet, the CBI seized all kinds of documents from Vijay Sai Reddy. All records are with the agency. Why should the CBI object to his bail? Why does it want to keep him in jail? It is misusing its powers,’’ he said.Alleging that the agency was trying to create panic among Jagan’s business partners by mentioning the names of their companies in the chargesheet, he said the CBI named some companies in the original chargesheet and named some more in the supplementary charge sheet.
