Weapon of mass outreach

KOCHI: In an effort to reach the masses, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy introduced mass contact programmes in each district. So far Chandy and Co has successfully carried out mass contact programmes in as many as 12 districts.Addressing a wide range of issues, Chandy used to listen to thousands of people at each of the mass contact programmes. Many of the issues were settled then and there itself.Giving directives to the officials concerned and allocating money from the Chief Minister’s fund, the novel initiative added to his popularity as the common man’s Chief Minister.
