A day after Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa and team suggested six names for the state BJP president post, former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s supporters decided to intensify their efforts to make their leader the state BJP chief.
Ministers of BSY camp C M Udasi, V Somanna, Basavaraj Bommai, M P Renukacharya, Umesh Katti and Srinivas Poojary who held a meeting here on Thursday decided to go to Delhi and apprise the party national leaders about the necessity of making Yeddyurappa the state BJP president ahead of Assembly elections.
“All our national leaders are in Surajkund in Haryana where the party’s national executive meeting is going on. We will go to Delhi once they return,” a senior BJP leader told Express on conditions of anonymity. Meanwhile, these leaders have also asked Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar to join them.
“It was Yeddyurappa who made Shettar the CM much against the wish of the high command. Now it is time for Shettar to reciprocate,” another leader said.
Though Yeddyurappa has been claiming that he is not in the race it is being said that he was operating through his supporters to exert pressure on the party high command.
Meanwhile Deputy Chief Minister R Ashok has been summoned to Delhi to discuss the appointment of next state BJP president issue.
He is also one among the six members shortlisted for the post by the state BJP.
