South Africa’s Rassie Van der Dussen pulled off one of the best catches of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 during the semifinal encounter against five-time champions Australia at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday.
Van der Dussen managed to hold onto a catching opportunity provided by Australian batsman Mitchell Marsh as the men from down under chased the 213-run target set for them by the Proteas.

The 34-year-old South African leapt to his right and pulled off a blinder as he held on to the ball before it hit the ground in a show of incredible athletic ability to send Marsh back to the pavilion off a Kagiso Rabada delivery.

South Africa put up a total of 212 runs riding on a lone century from David Miller, who was the only Protea player to cross the 50-run mark in the final-four clash against the Aussies.
The Proteas were reeling at 24 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the 12th over of the game before Miller and Heinrich Klaasen steadied the innings for the sinking South Africans.
Klaasen put up a 47-run knock, while Miller navigated his way to a brilliant 101 runs off 116 deliveries, as his teammates fell like nine pins to the Australian bowling attack.
The Australians bundled out the Proteas in 49.4 overs as Mitchell Starc and skipper Pat Cummins starred with three wickets a piece. Josh Hazlewood and Travis Head also chipped in with their contributions of two wickets each to wrap up the South African innings in the knockout fixture.
The winner of the game will square up against hosts India in the final of the ICC showpiece at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The men in blue secured their place in the summit clash with a thumping 70-run win over New Zealand in the first semifinal of the tournament on Wednesday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
