An underground South Korean rapper who goes by the stage name Ch1tkey has passed away. The news was confirmed by his girlfriend. It is reported that Ch1tkey, who was 21 years old, is believed to have died while performing a social media challenge. He allegedly fell off the roof while performing the challenge. News18 couldn’t verify the report at the time of reporting.
According to Koreaboo and South Korean news outlet Newsen, an acquaintances of the rapper stated that Ch1tkey fell off the roof. He had allegedly promised his social media followers that he would jump off the edge of the roof if a task he set was completed. Once it was completed, Ch1tkey allegedly decided to pretend to fall but instead, he actually fell to his death.
“Ch1tkey and another acquaintance stood at the edge of the roof. Ch1tkey was supposed to pretend to fall off the roof and then end the stream after giving a random viewer a gift but he slipped and fell,” an acquaintance was quoted by Koreaboo.
They added that he fell from a 5-storey building. “A friend went to check on him thinking it was a joke but Ch1tkey was unresponsive so they called the police. Ch1tkey was pronounced dead at the hospital,” they added. Although his family is yet to issue a statement about the claims, reports claimed that his girlfriend confirmed his death with a note.
A social media user who claimed to be his girlfriend shared a photo of him along with a heartbreaking note. “I trust that you’ll be happy in the world you’ve always dreamed of. My baby Joon Hyuk, I remember you always said you’d reach somewhere higher. You had so much ambition, dreams, and were always curious. You went through so much. Now, let’s meet every night in our dreams. I am so thankful that I was your first love and I was so lucky you were mine. Today is our 297 days of being together, we were together for almost 300 days. Thank you for adoring me and loving me every day. My puppy, I’ll remember you for as long as I live. I love you, oppa,” she said in Korean.
“Even though I wrote this after gaining control of my emotions, I am not able to get a grip. My head hurts from crying so much, but I tell myself that you went to a better place. I love you, I love you, and I am sorry. Thank you and always be happy there Joon Hyuk,” she added.
