It was after his parents’ death that Sivananda reached his Guruji, Omkarananda Goswami’s ashram at Nabadwip in West Bengal. From there, there was no turning back for him.
As for his diet now, he only has oil-free food and believes only in serving those who are underprivileged.
Swami, on many occasions, has owed his age to yoga, discipline and the celibacy vow that he took when he was young. He believes, ‘The world is my home, its people are my fathers and mothers, to love and serve them is my religion.”
Since his formative years at the ashram, the yogi has been practising and teaching Yoga at Kashi ghats. Moreover, he has also been serving leprosy-affected people at Puri for the past 50 years.
