The cast members and makers of the web series Made in Heaven have been plagued with questions about the second season for over a year now. Actor Arjun Mathur reveals shoot on the second season is finally underway. The actor is in Delhi currently shooting for this Amazon Prime Video series, alongside a new show called U-Special, which is set in Delhi University’s North Campus.
With director Akarsh Khurana as showrunner, U-Special will star an ensemble cast led by Sumeet Vyas, Arjun Mathur, Parambrata Chatterjee, Rukshar Dhillon, Taaruk Raina, Gopal Datt and Ahsaas Channa, among others. U-Special is the name of the special bus that plys within the North Campus. Soon after Lionsgate Play made the announcement about the college romance drama, Arjun told us he has begun shooting for the series and is very excited about this one.
“I am currently in Delhi shooting for both Made in Heaven season 2 and U-Special. I just had my first shooting day for the latter yesterday and I think it’s a great it’s going to be a really good series. It’s something very different from what Akarsh has also done. And then, this world of Delhi University has a lot of potential, in terms of how it looks in in cinema and the kind of stories that can be based on it,” he said.
This is the second Indian series that Lionsgate Play has announced ever since they launched their India-based over-the-top platform of global premium streaming service STARZ.
Talking about how he landed the show, Arjun said, “Akarsh Khurana, the director and showrunner, and I have known each other for a while, but, we’ve been kind of connected by six degrees of separation for a long time. The paths haven’t crossed as such, professionally. So I think both of us were waiting and looking for an opportunity to work with each other. And when I got a call for this, it worked out fortunately.”
U-Special will be shot in a start-to-finish schedule in Delhi. Arjun shared, “The show is doing a start to finish schedule which started a few days ago, and will be finishing sometime in May. I am, of course, shooting Made in Heaven at the same time, so my dates are a little bit spread out. I’m glad that I’m managing to do them both.”
Arjun remained tight-lipped on the storyline of Made in Heaven Season 2, only divulging, “We are turning it up this time in many ways.” The first season was created by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, which got Arjun an International Emmy nomination for Best Actor.
