Marathi actor Chinmay Mandlekar and his wife Neha Joshi Mandlekar have received hate comments for naming their child Jehangir. The mindless trolls have harassed the couple for a long time. Now, Neha has given a befitting reply to these users in an Instagram video. Neha said that Jehangir is a Persian name. Her son was born on March 21, 2013. According to her, the Jamshedi Navroz or the Persian New Year is celebrated on that day and this prompted them to name her child Jehangir. She said that for this reason, the name Jehangir is beautiful and it hardly matters who encouraged them to keep this name.
Neha also talked about the meaning of the name Jehangir, which implies the one who has conquered the world. According to her, she has also named her son considering the meaning attached to this name. She also gave the example of the prominent industrialist JRD Tata or Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata. Neha opined that even if Jehangir is a Muslim name, then what’s the problem behind it? According to her, people have lived along with Muslims for a long time now. She further said that the superstars in films and cricketers are Muslims. Neha mentioned that if we can watch the performances of these people and help them earn many crores of business, then why is there a furore behind a name?
Neha added that she and her husband have made no mistake in naming their child Jehangir. As per her, no matter how much faith we have in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj or his teachings, it is never enough in this country. She said that despite their love for the revered Marathi ruler and his valour, they don’t have the basic right to keep a particular name for their child. She issued an apology to the citizens of Maharashtra that despite her husband playing the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, they kept Jehangir as their child’s name.

Neha and Chinmay faced this online harassment earlier as well. At that time, she wrote that those who are propagating hate for their child have no respect for the morals and culture taught in their religion.
