Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh’s We Live in Time has made a strong debut in theatres, garnering an exceptionally positive response. Directed by John Crowley, the film tells the story of a couple through non-linear storytelling, allowing audiences to experience both the joys of love and the depths of heartbreak. Pugh, who plays Almut—a rising star diagnosed with late-stage ovarian cancer—recently shared her thoughts on the impactful moment when she shaved her head to authentically depict her character’s journey.
Sharing a picture from her Instagram post on stories, the actress flaunted her blonde bob cut look and wrote, “This was the last picture I took with my hair. Getting to do this for this role was a true honour and a privilege, to give my body to the story was something I always felt passionately and confident about. I’m just grateful. So grateful.”

In a lengthy post, the Oppenheimer actress shared a roundup of pictures, capturing her experience while filming We Live in Time. Mentioning that she feels proud of the particular piece of work, Pugh wrote, “I’m so grateful for my own sliding of doors, for which another film moved by two months (the exact amount of time WLIT needed..) and I was able to squeeze this special movie in.” She also shared being desperate for a role as such, adding that many incredible masterminds came together to make it possible.
Pugh also gave special mentions to her director John Crowley, co-star Andrew Garfield, and the entire team of the film. “I’m being hesitant posting anymore because I know it’s not out globally yet and I don’t want to ruin. In the meantime. To those who can watch it, I hope it did all the right things it was suppose to. To those who can’t yet… soz. Love me,” her post concluded.
Talking about the film, it tells the story of Almut (Pugh) and Tobias (Garfield), who are brought together by a surprise encounter. Through various scenes of their life together, the hardest truth of Almut’s cancer diagnosis shakes them to the core. As they embark on a journey with time limits, they start embracing each moment. In one of the scenes, Almut even has Tobias shave her head amid the cancer battle.
The film came out in theatres on October 11.
