South actress Ruhani Sharma, known for films like HIT: The First Case and Nootokka Jillala Andagadu, was at the centre of online trolling after her latest release, Agra, leaked online. The actress received a lot of criticism for her intimate scenes in the film, which prompted her to release a statement expressing her disappointment. She wrote, “Creating an art film is an intense journey filled with countless challenges, sleepless nights and unwavering commitment.” Ruhani called out those who were quick to judge the project, without acknowledging the hard work that went into it. Mentioning the accolades Agra has received worldwide, including a screening at the Cannes Film Festival 2023, the actress affirmed that they strive to push “boundaries of world cinema.” She stated, “I stand by my choices and I’m incredibly proud of this film and the entire team that made it happen,” asking the viewers for respect towards filmmaking. Ruhani concluded her statement with an appeal to the audience to celebrate cinema, instead of tearing the artists down for their work.
