@mkstalin…— Ilaiyaraaja (@ilaiyaraaja) September 26, 2024
Ilaiyaraaja, the legendary composer and close friend of SP Balasubrahmanyam shared his thoughts on social media and expressed his gratitude to the Tamil Nadu government. He wrote, “In memory of my friend Balu, I am deeply moved by the decision to rename the road where his house is situated as Balasubramaniam Road. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on behalf of the people of Tamil Nadu and the film industry for this befitting tribute.”
The initiative to rename the road was taken by SPB Charan’s son, who, on behalf of his family and fans, had requested the Tamil Nadu government to honour his father’s legacy in this way. The Chief Minister agreed to this request and announced the decision on September 25, the death anniversary of SP Balasubrahmanyam.
Earlier, Kamal Haasan, who had a long and cherished relationship with SPB, had also welcomed the government’s decision. He took a moment to recall the many fond memories he had with the legendary singer. SP Balasubrahmanyam’s son SP Charan, overwhelmed by the gesture, wholeheartedly thanked the Tamil Nadu government for fulfilling the wish of his family and fans and immortalising his father’s name in this way.
