Kareena Kapoor Khan’s mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore recently shared her opinion on the former’s hit film Crew. The actress shared the screen space with Tabu and Kriti Sanon for the same. The film is set against the backdrop of the aviation industry and is all things hilarious, as they embark on heist. In a recent interview, Sharmila went on to call the film ‘absurd beyond belief’.
Talking to Kapil Sibal on his YouTube channel Dil Se Kapil Sibal, Sharmila praised the the camaraderie between the three female leads, including Kareena, Tabu and Kriti Sanon. She added,
“It is absurd, of course, beyond belief but there are three women pulling off this adventure. One is landing a plane, one is breaking a safe… doing all kinds of things together and the camaraderie between the three is excellent because they say a woman is a woman’s worst enemy, not so here.”
She further opened up on how Crew has become a commercial success and that she wishes to see more women centric films. “Crew has done very well. Three women are doing all kinds of fantastic things and it has done well at the box office. This will encourage a lot of filmmakers to do women-centric films,” she added.
The heist film Crew emerged as a box office powerhouse, garnering widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike. Released in March this year, Crew had a fantastic run in theatres and earned about Rs 148 crore globally. In a recent interview, Kareena Kapoor spoke about the success of Crew and emphasised its significance in proving that female-led films can thrive commercially.
Speaking to PTI, Kareena Kapoor earlier said she was glad to see Crew’s box office numbers. “It’s not about whether it’s a hero or a heroine taking on a film. It’s a person and (their) performance that takes the film and content (forward). We are going to keep trying to do that. I will always choose roles that are interesting but in the form of entertainment. I’m happy Crew has broken barriers. It started the conversation that women also can break box office rules,” she mentioned.
Kareena Kapoor is now gearing up for the premiere of her much-awaited film Singham Again, featuring an ensemble cast including Ajay Devgn, Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Tiger Shroff in prominent roles.
