MTV Splitsvilla X5 Finale: Akriti Negi and Jashwanth Bopanna have emerged as the winners of MTV Splitsvilla X5. The popular reality television show, hosted by Sunny Leone and Tanuj Virwani came to an end on Sunday, August 11, with a final battle between Akriti-Jashwanth and Harsh Arora-Rushali Yadav. Digvijay Singh Rathee and Kashish Kapoor came third on the show.
In a major twist, Urfi Javed and guest Munawar Faruqui offered contestants to walk away with a major sum of the cash prize. Kashish Kapoor opted to walk out with Rs 10 lakh, leaving Digvijay Singh Rathee no choice but to withdraw from the finale and place third on the show. His defeat left everyone, including Sunny Leone, in tears.
“When the last episode of the season comes out, it will be crazy. What is about to happen has never happened on any reality TV show. I know what the speculations are currently but no one has any clue about what is going to happen. Watch the finale, it will be fun,” Digvijay had earlier told News18 Showsha in an exclusive conversation.
Thus followed a final showdown between the two couples who opted to play the finale instead of walking out. With a time gap of five seconds, Akriti and Jashwanth emerged as the show’s winners. They took home the leftover cash prize of Rs 5 lakh.
Talking about her win Akriti said in a statement, “I can’t describe my happiness! This journey was a rollercoaster of emotions. Winning MTV Splitsvilla X5 with my partner, Jashwanth is extremely special for me. It was truly challenging against such strong contenders but we stuck together through it all – the winning title is more important to us than any other distractions that came in between, and we’ve proved it!”
Jashwanth added, “Winning the title of India’s OG dating reality show is an extremely proud moment for me. Especially when I was so close to claiming the title in both my previous reality shows. But this proves hard work never goes unnoticed. I am beyond thrilled to conquer the winning title of MTV Splitsvilla X5 with my true connection, Akriti. We climbed up the ranks against 30 strong contestants and we silenced all those who criticized us.”
Akriti and Jashwanth have also participated in different seasons of MTV’s Roadies and often won the challenges they performed. While they maintain that they are not in a relationship after the show, they are often spotted on dates and expressing their fondness for one another.
