Arshad Warsi finally reacted to the chaos after he called Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD character a ‘joker’. A few weeks ago, Arshad confessed that he did not like Kalki 2898 AD. The actor praised Amitabh Bachchan’s performance in the film but felt that Prabhas’ character was reduced to a joker. The statement drew massive reactions from many, including the film’s director Nag Ashwin. Arshad was also brutally trolled by Prabhas’ fans.
At IIFA 2024, Arshad opened up about the backlash he received and said that people misinterpreted his statement. Speaking with ANI, Arshad said, “Everybody has their own point of view and people like to interpret noise. I spoke about the character, not the person. He (Prabhas) is a brilliant actor and he has proved himself again and again, and we know about it. And, when we give a bad character to a good actor, it’s heartbreaking for the audience.”
What Did Arshad Warsi Say About Prabhas and Kalki 2898 AD?
Arshad was asked to name a bad film he recently watched during a podcast with Samdish Bhatia. Arshad named Kalki 2898 AD and explained, “Prabhas, I am really sad, why was he… he was like a joker. Why? I want to see a Mad Max. I want to see Mel Gibson over there. Tumne usko kya bana dia yaar. Kyu karte ho aisa mujhe nahi samajh mein aata (What have you made of it? Why do they do such things I never understand).”
What Did Nag Ashwin Say?
Director Nag Ashwin felt that Arshad could have used better words to express his thoughts. However, he added that he has not taken Arshad’s words to heart. “Arshad saab (sir) should have chosen his words better… but it’s ok… sending Buji toys for his kids… I will work hard so tweets… that Prabhas was the best ever in K2,” he said on X.
Speaking with News18 Showsha exclusively, Kalki 2898 AD co-producer Swapna Dutt, who is also Nag’s sister-in-law, said, “I loved the way Nagi reacted to it. We stayed calm because the film proved for itself what it is. Prabhas was fantastic in the film as he always is. We’ve to give it to the magnanimity of Nag Ashwin and Prabhas. They’re just so easy on these things.”
Meanwhile, Prabhas will return the sequel of Kalki 2898 AD.
