Billy Ray Cyrus has reportedly attempted to mend his relationship with his popstar daughter Miley Cyrus amidst their ongoing disagreement. However, Miley, the Flowers singer, seems uninterested in reconnecting with her father. According to Us Weekly, the 62-year-old country singer has tried reaching out to Miley many times and even congratulated her on her two Grammy wins earlier this month. Despite this, Miley, who notably excluded him from her acceptance speeches, seems to have no interest in reconciling.
“The kids have chosen sides, but friends are hoping the rift doesn’t last forever,” the outlet reported.
Rumors of a Cyrus family feud emerged in August 2023 after Miley’s younger siblings, Noah and Braison Cyrus, decided not to attend their mother Tish’s wedding to Dominic Purcell, despite being invited.
“It’s no secret neither of them approves of Dominic, and that’s created tension with their mom,” informed Us Weekly.
Tish officially filed for divorce from Billy Ray in April 2022 after 28 years of marriage, stating that “there’s nothing left to say, and they both harbor resentment.” They are reportedly not on speaking terms.
Tish has since moved on with Prison Break star while Billy Ray got engaged to Australian singer Firerose, who is 27 years his junior, and they wed in October 2023.
“The family dynamics haven’t been the same since the divorce, and now that Tish and Billy Ray are with other people, there’s even more division among them all. Miley hasn’t gotten over the disrespect she feels Billy Ray showed Tish and the family,” though the specifics of this disrespect are unclear,” reports Page Six.
Tish hinted at the disrespect during a recent appearance on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, stating that she dealt with “disrespect in every form” during her marriage to Billy Ray.
“Disrespect just lays it out in so many ways. I didn’t even know until I had a new relationship where there was so much respect – how much disrespect there was in my marriage before. Honestly, on both our parts,” she said.
Tish also revealed that she and Billy Ray had been separated since 2020. While Tish stayed in Los Angeles during the pandemic, Billy Ray was in Tennessee.
“I could not eat. I could not sleep. I could not stop crying. I literally weighed, like, 130 pounds,” she recalled. “I don’t have my mom, and then I don’t have my husband that’s been my husband for 30 years. I’m scared,” she added as per Page Six.
However, there has been no comment or official statement from Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus on the issues as of now.
