Sonu Gowda primarily works in Kannada-language films. She made her debut in Inthi Ninna Preethiya and has acted in films like Paramesha Panwala and Gulama. She has also acted in Tamil and a few Malayalam films, in which she is seen as Shruthi Ramakrishnan. Sonu was born to Ramakrishna, a make-up artist who has worked in the Kannada film industry. She has a sister, Neha Gowda, who is known as a television actress for her roles in the Telugu television serial Swathi Chinukulu, the Kannada soap opera Lakshmi Baramma and Kalyana Parisu. Sonu attended Carmel High School in Padmanabhanagar, Bangalore.
