Stray Kids' MET Gala 2024 debut was mired by racist comments and remarks by the international paparazzi.

Stray Kids at MET Gala 2024: Stray Kids made their debut at the MET Gala this year but it was not all a memorable affair. In videos surfacing from the red carpet, the K-pop group members Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Han, Hyunjin, Felix, Seungmin and I.N were subjected to racist and rude remarks from the Hollywood paparazzi. In a video gone viral, a paparazzi duo was heard discussing the members’ looks and even called them ‘robots’. The incident has left K-pop fans across the globe angry.

In the video, a photographer was heard saying, “I’ve never seen so many so many unemotional faces before.” Another replied, “They’re robots.” The first cameraman was heard laughing and agreeing with comment. When the members were seen removing their robs and showing off their looks, a cameraman said, “Oh, now we have to do it again?” Another added, “Now, let’s do it with feelings. Everybody jump,” with the paparazzi breaking into a fit of laughter.

Videos of Stray Kids’ red carpet moment has left fans fuming. Many took to X to express their anger. “I am so upset. The fashion industry is still so racist. It’s gotten slightly more accepting because of how big Kpop has gotten, but you can tell that people still don’t respect asian artists. Stray Kids deserved better. This was absolutely appalling behavior from the paparazzi,” a fan wrote. “I hope these paparazzi never appear in front of Stray Kids again. have respect for the artists, they are people too!!! why in Korea paparazzi behave politely, but at a big show there, like a met gala, such rude people work,” added another.

“This stray kids paparazzi thing is actually pissing me off,” a third comment read. “I am extremely grateful & proud that STRAYKIDS were invited to this year’s MetGala but the amount of disrespect from those paparazzi like, treat them with respect why yell when they could just stfu why be racist when you could just stfu,” a fourth social media user wrote.

“I admire stray kids’ professionalism and maintaining their composure despite of the nasty remarks from these paparazzi,” a fan wrote.

The Stray Kids members are yet to address the incident.
