Taarak Mehta's Disha Vakani Cries Inconsolably With Aishwarya Rai In THIS Unseen Photo From Jodhaa Akbar
Disha Vakani played the role of Jodhaa's aide, Madhavi in the 2008 movie Jodhaa Akbar.

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear of Disha Vakani? Dayaben, right? The actress is known for playing the role of ‘Daya Tappu Ke Papa Gada’ in the popular show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. However, do you know that Disha Vakani was also a part of the 2008 movie, Jodhaa Akbar?

Jodha Akbar was a romantic drama which shed light on the love story of the Mughal Emperor Akbar and his Rajput princess Jodhaa. In the film, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan played the role of Jodhaa and Akbar, respectively. Disha Vakani was also a part of Ashutosh Gowarikar’s film. She played the role of Jodhaa’s aide, Madhavi, who went with her to the kingdom of the Mughals after the princess married Akbar.

A throwback picture of Disha Vakani from the sets of Jodhaa Akbar has surfaced online in which she is seen crying inconsolably with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The two are seen dressed in red traditional outfits as Disha keeps her head on Aishwarya’s shoulder. Check out the picture here:

Meanwhile, Disha Vakani, who used to play the role of Daya in Asit Kumarr Modi’s TMKOC, went on indefinite maternity leave in 2017 and has not returned since then. Lately, Asit Modi has repeatedly conveyed that the hunt for new Dayaben is underway. “The audience of the show has been patiently waiting to see their favourite Dayaben back on the show. The casting for the character isn’t easy and it will be a challenge for any actress to step into Disha’s shoes. We will need a brilliant performer for the part,” Modi told E-Times in August 2023.

Later, in an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, Asit Modi was asked if he was tired of answering the questions regarding Dayaben’s comeback. Asit nodded positively but also shared that he would have to answer fans since he is the maker of the show. He also called Disha Vakani his ‘sister’ and added that he would be the happiest if she decided to come back.

“I will have to answer. I am also tired of answering and requesting people not to ask this question. But I am the producer of the show and therefore I’ll have to answer. Even today I wish that our original Daya Bhabhi aka Disha Vakani comes back. Disha is like my sister. She wants to spend time with her family. She has two kids. If she does not want to come back, I cannot force her,” he told us.
