Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao’s latest film Laapataa Ladies has been getting praise from all corners. The film saw its theatrical release on March 1, 2024, and now it was released on the OTT platform on April 26. Well, many celebrities have praised Kiran Rao’s directorial. The latest to join is Vijay Varma. He took to his social media and called the comedy-drama ‘Exceptional’.
Taking to his Instagram stories, Vijay Varma shared the poster of the film and wrote, “Late to the party.. watched Laapataa Ladies last night.. it’s exceptional! Some films make you fall in love with cinema all over again and this one did more than that.” Extending his wishes to director Kiran Rao, Vijay stated, “Many congratulations to @raodyness and her gifted team for this firecracker of a film. It’s so inspiring to see young actors blossom this way! A fresh new wave has emerged and it was so needed!” In another story, Vijay re-shared a behind-the-scenes video of Ravi Kishan from Laapataa Ladies and said, “Bhaaaiisaab kya nazakat wala kaam @ravikishann.”

All my best to @raodyness and team, will recommend all to watch this gem (happy emoji)” He also translated his review into Hindi.” Hansal Mehta has also shared his thoughts and opinions on the touching comedy-drama. The renowned filmmaker, after watching the film, took to his social media handle and dropped a post. In his post on X (Formerly Twitter), Mehta lauded Laapataa Ladies and called for its ‘big heart’. He wrote, “Saw the very big hearted and moving Laapata Ladies. Sometimes all that is needed is simplicity and clarity. This film is that.”
The movie is adapted from Biplab Goswami’s award-winning novel. Kiran Rao’s directorial features Sparsh Shrivastava, Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goel, and Ravi Kishan in the lead roles. The movie takes viewers back to rural India in 2001. Its narrative revolves around two brides who get exchanged during a train journey. The journey filled with twists and turns begins as their husbands start searching for the real bride.
Made under the banners of Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions, the film marked the directorial comeback of Kiran Rao after Dhobi Ghat. Before its theatrical release, the film was screened at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023. It received a standing ovation from the audience present at the festival.
