Mumbai police has issued an advisory to avoid traffic congestion ahead of two major events scheduled for October 24 – Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena’s Dussehra Rally and South Africa versus Bangladesh Cricket World Cup 2023 match at the Wankhede stadium.
According to an official notification, Mumbai Police said that on October 24, 2023 “Dussehra Melava” function is scheduled at Shivaji Park in Dadar (West). A huge crowd is expected to gather for the said event, due to which, a huge amount of traffic congestion will be at Western Express Highway, Eastern Express Highway, and nearby roads leading towards the venue.
“To prevent danger, obstruction and inconvenience to the public traffic arrangements were being made” the notification further said.
The traffic restrictions will be in effect from 9:00 am till midnight in the Shivaji park area on October 24, 2023.

No parking on following roads –
- SVS Road (from Siddhivinayak Mandir Junction to Yes Bank)
- Keluskar Road, South and North in Dadar.
- MB Raut Road (from its junction with SVS Road) in Dadar.
- Pandurang Naik Marg in Dadar.
- Dadasaheb Rege Marg (from Senapati Bapat Statue to Gadkari Junction) in Dadar.
- Lt. Dilip Gupte Marg (from Shivaji Park Gate No. 4 to Shitaladevi temple Junction)
- NC Kelkar Marg (from Gadkari Junction to Hanuman Temple Junction) in Dadar.
- LJ Road, Rajabade Junction to Gadkari Junction.
No entry for vehicles on the following roads –
- No vehicles will be allowed on SVS Road from Siddhivinayak Mandir Junction to Kapad Bazar Junction, Mahim. People can alternatively take the Siddhivinayak Junction – SK Bole Road-Agar Bazar- Portuguese Church and Gokhale Road route.
- No vehicles will be allowed from Raja Badhe Chowk junction to Keluskar Marg (North) junction, Dadar. People can alternatively take the LJ Road- Gokhale Road- Steel Man Junction route and then proceed through Gokhale Road.
- No vehicles will be allowed on Lt. Dilip Gupte Road from its Junction on Pandurang Naik Marg for Southbound traffic. Alternatively, people can proceed via Raja Bade Junction towards LJ Road.
- No vehicles will be allowed from Gadkari Chowk junction to Keluskar Road (south) in Dadar.
- No entry for vehicles will be in force on Bal Govindas Marg from Padmabai Thakkar Marg Junction from Senapati Bapat Marg to LJ Marg westbound.
- Traffic will, instead, be diverted to Manorama Nagarkar Marg.
- No vehicles will be allowed on Dadasahaeb Rege Road From Senapati Bapat Statue to Gadkari Junction. Traffic, instead, will be diverted to LJ Road, Gokhale Road and Ranade Road.

“In view of World Cup-2023 Cricket matches scheduled at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, the following traffic arrangements have been made to avoid traffic congestion. Spectators are requested to kindly use the local trains since no parking facilities at Wankhede Stadium,” Mumbai police said in an X (formerly Twitter) post.

The traffic and parking restriction will be in effect from 11:00 am to midnight on match days.
Parking Restrictions
- C Road, North from its junction on NS Road to its junction with E Road.
- D Road from its junction on NS Road to its junction with E Road.
- E Road from the D Road junction to C Road junction.
- E Cross Road from the junction to “Anuvrat” junction.
- F Road from the junction of NS Road to the junction of H road
- H Road from the junction of F Road to the junction of G Road.
- NS Road (South and Northbound) from Mafatlal Bath Signal to Air India Junction
- Anuvrat Chowk to BD Somani Junction.
Change in Traffic Routes
- D Road will be made one way (from West to East) for vehicular traffic from its junction at NS Road (Marine Drive) &and towards the junction of E & C Road.
- C Road will be made one Way (from East to West) for vehicular movement from its junction of E Road towards the junction of NS Road (Marine Drive).
- E Road will be made one Way (South Bound) for all types of vehicular movement from the junction of D Road towards its junction of C Road.
- Matchgoers using Gate Number 01, 03 and 07 are requested to use Churchgate station.
- People using Gate Number 04 & 05A are requested to use Marine Lines station, F Road to ply instead, an official notification said.
