'Bizarrely the Only Team...': Michael Vaughan Praises 'Too Good' India
India have won all eight of their matches at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 so far and will finish the league stage on top of the points table.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan is in awe of the Indian cricket team.

ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 hosts India have so far been in ruthless form in the competition. With eight wins in as many games, India currently sit atop the points table.

They are also the only unbeaten side in the tournament.

Vaughan’s praise for India comes after Rohit Sharma’s men exhibited a spectacular all-round performance against South Africa on Sunday.

India got the better of second-placed South Africa by 243 runs in Kolkata.

Vaughan pointed out that England was the only side that had India “slightly worried” at the World Cup 2023.

“India are too good. That’s my summarisation of this World Cup. Bizarrely the only team so far that has had them slightly worried has been England when they bowled them out for 229. Then they Batted though,” Vaughan posted on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

Team India did find themselves in a tricky situation having been bowled out for 229 against defending champions England at the World Cup on October 29.

Indian bowlers stepped up to produce a stunning show as they clinched a resounding 100-run victory in that game.

England’s campaign has been quite disappointing at the World Cup.

Jos Buttler’s men are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table with just one win from seven games. Their solitary win in the competition came against Bangladesh on October 10.

Meanwhile, India are in the semi-finals of the World Cup.

In their last match, India defeated South Africa by 243 runs.

Chasing a challenging target of 327, the Proteas folded for a lowly 83.

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja registered a five-wicket haul while Mohammad Shami and Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets each.

Vaughan seemed quite impressed with the Indian bowling unit.

“So if Bumrah doesn’t get you Siraj will. If Siraj doesn’t get you Shami will. If Shami doesn’t get you Jadeja will & If Jadeja doesn’t get you Kuldeep will,” he wrote on X.

Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten century to help set the formidable total.

With this century, Kohli succeeded in equalling Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI tons.

In their next World Cup fixture, table-toppers India will be up against the Netherlands on November 12. It will also be India’s final game of the league stage.
