Australian star David Warner replied to Pandya’s post with a comment that read, “Get well soon mate”.

Pandya picked up an ankle injury during the group stages of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 on home soil during India’s fixture against Bangladesh and was subsequently ruled out of the showpiece tournament, which India finished as losing finalists.

The injury also kept the 30-year-old out of action as the men in blue played Australia in limited overs format at home following the conclusion of the World Cup and India’s tour of South Africa.

Pandya caused a huge stir in India as he made a sensational return to his former IPL side Mumbai Indians in a mouthwatering trade deal between the side from Maharashtra and Gujarat Titans, whom Pandya had lead in the previous two editions.

Pandya made the switch to the then-newly formed Gujarat Titans side from Mumbai Indians a couple of years ago, and led the Ahmedabad-based side to the title in their inaugural campaign.

He came close to defending the title with GT, however, fell short in the final hurdle against the legendary MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings.

Following Pandya’s return to his beloved MI side, he was named as the side’s captain to lead the side in the upcoming edition, replacing fan-favourite Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who has led the side for the last 10 years to a wide array of trophies.

During his time with the Mumbai-based side between the years 2015 and 2021, Pandya was part of four title-winning squads, amassing nearly 1500 runs with the willow and picking up 42 wickets in all for the Paltan.

He will hope to return in time for the money-rich franchise league and emulate his performances of old for the team based in the fabled Wankhede.
