In today’s fast-paced world, where innovation is at its zenith, our choices are myriad when it comes to skincare products. Amid this proliferation of options, there is a crucial choice that every conscious consumer must make – organic or synthetic skincare? In India, the organic skincare market is on the rise. According to a report by TechSci Research, the Indian organic cosmetics market is expected to grow at a CAGR of over 20% from 2021 to 2026. This significant growth underscores the increasing preference among Indian consumers for organic skincare products. Synonymous with purity, organic products are free from genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and are never tested on animals, contributing to their eco-friendly attributes.
Rahul Aggarwal, Founder, Organic Harvest, says, “Synthetic skincare products are often laden with chemicals that can have detrimental effects on our skin. Ingredients such as parabens, sulfates, and synthetic fragrances can lead to skin irritation, allergies, and even disrupt hormonal balance. The average woman applies over 500 synthetic chemicals to her skin daily, a staggering number, considering the potential harm these chemicals can cause. Consumers are becoming more informed about the potential health hazards associated with synthetic chemicals in cosmetics. As per a survey by LocalCircles, over 70% of respondents expressed a preference for organic or herbal skincare products due to concerns about the harmful effects of synthetic chemicals.”
India is a treasure trove of organic skincare ingredients. “From the soothing properties of aloe vera in Rajasthan to the anti-aging secrets of saffron in Kashmir, our country’s diverse landscape provides a rich source of natural goodness for our skin. With a growing demand for organic skincare products supported by increasing consumer awareness and preference, it is our responsibility to make informed choices that benefit the skin while contributing to a healthier environment. By choosing organic skincare, we embrace a lifestyle that celebrates the beauty of both nature and skin,” signs off Aggarwal.
