A homeopathic doctor took to ‘X’ and shared her experience with an Uber driver. Bhumika shared how she received inappropriate messages from the driver who she just had a ride with. Deeming it as a ‘distressing situation’, Bhumika wrote that the incident has not left her feeling extremely uncomfortable and raised serious security and safety concerns. “I strongly believe that Uber should be a platform where customers, especially women, can trust the drivers and the overall experience. This incident has shaken that trust, and I am deeply concerned about the safety of female passengers who rely on Uber for transportation,” she mentioned in her post.

However, Bhumika has further mentioned that Uber India did not respond to her in the DMs.
The entire incident has shocked people on social media and raised safety concerns. “These situations are so scary. Even if Uber takes corrective action, the driver knows your address,” commented an ‘X’ user.
Many emphasised on how it is important to not pay through UPI apps and rather stick to the online payment platform provided by the app to ensure safety. “You can’t be stupid and pay people via UPI so they now know your number when the app clearly says do online payment. I can also tell she uses PayTM / PhonePe because it’s a security issue at their end. You need to go pick a VPA if you want to avoid this kind of leakage,” commented another user.
